Former Alabama State Hornets football wide receiver Dylan Djete is headed back to his home country to continue his professional football career.
Djete was selected in the second round of the CFL Draft on April 28 by the Saskatchewan Roughriders. A native of Levis, he had declared for both the CFL and NFL drafts in December 2025.
Although Djete did not receive an invite to the NFL Combine, he impressed scouts during Alabama State Pro Day and elevated his stock further at the CFL Combine, where he earned a 91.06 grade — the second-highest mark among 143 prospects.
Djete spent one season with Alabama State after transferring from Wofford Terriers football. He contributed to a standout offensive unit that helped the Hornets achieve their most successful season since 2004.
He now joins a Roughriders team coming off a championship run. Saskatchewan finished 13–6 in 2025, topping the Western Division before capturing the Grey Cup with a victory over the Montreal Alouettes.
Among Alabama State players declaring for the 2025–26 professional draft cycle, Djete is currently the only one selected or signed to a professional roster.
