A couple games on Sunday wrapped up things for HBCUs for. the week.
Prairie View A&M routed Texas Southern 52-14 and S.C. State dominated Florida A&M in the Orange Blossom Classic in Miami Gardens, Fla.
Also, Southern coach Marshall Faulk, the Pro Football Hall of Famer, earned his first victory

Sunday, Sept. 6
S.C. State, FAMU: S.C. State 31, Florida A&M 13: Mason Pickett-Hicks rushed for 210 yards and two touchdowns to lead South Carolina State past Florida A&M 31-13 on Sunday in the Orange Blossom Classic in Miami Gardens, Fla.
S.C. State outgained FAMU 479-161, including 292 yards on the ground. The Bulldogs improved to 2-0, while the Rattlers dropped to 1-1.
Up next — SC State: Returns home to play Virginia State next Saturday. FAMU: Plays at No. 7 Miami on Thursday.
Prairie View A&M 52, Texas Southern 14: Tevin Carter passed for 217 yards and four touchdowns to lead the Panthers to victory. Safety Kamrin Canterbury led the Panthers with 11 tackles. PVAM improved to 1-1, while Texas Southern dropped to 1-1. Up next: PVAM plays at Baylor at 8 p.m. Saturday. Texas Southern plays at Texas-El Paso at 9 p.m. Saturday.

Southern Miss 49, Alcorn State 3: Steven Robinson rushed for three touchdowns and Kobi Albert intercepted three passes as Southern Miss rolled past Alcorn State 49-3 on Saturday to give Blake Anderson his first win as the Golden Eagles’ head coach in Hattiesburg, Miss.
The Braves (1-1) scored the game’s first and their only points on Kenyon Bowyer‘s field goal. Up Next: Alcorn State: Host to Arkansas-Pine Bluff next Saturday. Southern Miss: Plays at Auburn next Saturday.
Alabama State 34, Lane 0: Quarterback Andrew Body completed 10 of 14 passes for 113 yards, a touchdown and an interception to lead the Hornets to victory. The Hornets also rushed for 150 yards to improve to 2-0. The Dragons dropped to 0-2. Up next: Alabama State plays Troy at 4 p.m. on Saturday. Lane hosts Allen at 4 p.m. Saturday.
Grambling State 48, Central State 26: The Tigers passed for 283 yards and ran for 361 in the victory. The Tigers improved to 2-0, while the Marauders dropped to 0-2. Up next: Grambling plays at Texas Christian at 8 p.m. Saturday. Central State at Arkansas Pine Bluff on Sat 19.
Jackson State 66 Edward Waters 14: Jackson State amassed 388 yards passing and 316 on the ground as they dominated Edward Waters in Jackson, Miss. Jackson State improved to 2-0. Edward Waters dropped to 1-1. Up next: Jackson State will host Tuskegee on Sept. 19. Edward Waters plays at Miles at 3 p.m. Saturday in Fairfield, Ala.
Southern 34, Kentucky State 15: The Southern Jaguars beat Kentucky State 34-15 in their home opener, giving them their first win in the Marshall Faulk era in Baton Rouge, La. Southern opened the scoring in the second quarter with a pick six by defensive back Tay James. Kentucky State scored a safety after running back Mike Franklin fumbled the ball, leading Southern to recover the ball in their own end zone. Up next: Southern plays at Houston at 7 p.m. Saturday. Kentucky State plays at Clark Atlanta at 6 p.m. Saturday.
Sacramento State 52, Miss. Valley 0: Jackson Sharman threw four touchdown passes, three to Matt Coleman, as Sacramento State shut out FCS member Mississippi Valley State 52-0 on Saturday night, giving Alonzo Carter his first win as the Hornets’ head coach in Sacramento, Calif. Carter, who was named the program’s 14th head coach in December, led Sacramento State (1-1) to its first win as an FBS member. Mississippi Valley State (0-2) was held to 147 total yards, including 43 through the air.

Georgia 63, Tennessee State 3: Gunner Stockton passed for three touchdowns, Nate Frazier ran for three scores and No. 3 Georgia overwhelmed Tennessee State 63-3 on Saturday in Athens, Ga.
The temperature was 101 degrees at kickoff and the heat likely was a factor in some fans leaving Sanford Stadium at the end of the first quarter when the Bulldogs already led 28-0. Georgia (1-0) scored touchdowns on its first five possessions, all with Stockton at quarterback. Tennessee State: After trailing 35-0, the Tigers (0-2) finally put together a scoring drive late in the first half. Up Next: Tennessee State will play at Alabama A&M next Saturday night. Georgia will debut its all-white alternate uniform when it plays at home against Western Kentucky next Saturday.
Maryland 62, Hampton 0: DeJuan Williams scored on a 94-yard run in the first quarter, the first of six rushing touchdowns for Maryland in a 62-0 rout of Hampton on Saturday night in College Park, Md. Maryland outgained the Pirates (1-1) 646-85 in Hampton’s first-ever game against a Power Four team. Up next: Hampton: Hosts Bryant next Saturday. Maryland: At UConn on Saturday.

Missouri 54, Arkansas-Pine Bluff 14: Austin Simmons threw for 252 yards and four touchdowns in a Missouri debut that lasted less than a half, and the No. 25 Tigers rolled to a season-opening 54-14 victory over Arkansas-Pine Bluff on Thursday night in Columbia, Mo.
Garrison Davis and Jack Schierholz split the snaps at quarterback for Arkansas-Pine Bluff (1-1). The Tigers improved to 1-0. Up next: Arkansas Pine-Bluff: Plays Alcorn State next Saturday night in Memphis, Tennessee. Missouri: At Kansas next Friday night.
Central Florida 73, Bethune-Cookman 6: The Knights passed for 200 yards and touchdowns while running back Duke Watson added 110 yards rushing and a touchdown in the lopsided affair. The Knights improved to 1-0 and the Wildcats dropped to 0-1. Up next: Bethune Cookman hosts Stetson at 4 p.m. Saturday. UCF plays at Pittsburgh at 3:30 p.m Saturday.

William & Mary 22, Delaware State 15: Andrew King rushed for two touchdowns and William & Mary forced six turnovers as the Tribe beat Delaware State 22-15 on Saturday in Williamsburg, Va.
King rushed for 73 yards on 15 carries and scored on runs of 14 and 3 yards as William & Mary (2-0) built a 16-0 lead in the first quarter. Delaware State (1-1) scored twice in the fourth quarter behind Noah Brannock. He ran for an 11-yard touchdown with 9:59 left before adding a 2-yard score that cut the deficit to 22-15 with 3:04 remaining. Old Dominion 31, Norfolk State 10: Sophomore Quinn Henicle threw for two touchdowns and ran for two others in his first regular-season start, leading Old Dominion to a 31-10 victory over FCS opponent Norfolk State on Saturday in Norfolk, Va. Henicle’s 13-yard touchdown run and an 11-yard TD pass to TJ Johnson helped stake the Monarchs (1-0) to a 17-0 halftime lead. Jalyn Daniels ran for 84 yards for the Spartans (1-1). N.C. Central 27, Elizabeth City 6: Nelson Layne passed for two touchdowns to lead the Eagles who improved to 1-1. The Vikings dropped to 0-2. Up Next: N.C. Central hosts N.C. A&T at 6 p.m. Saturday.
Richmond 28, Howard 21: Ashten Snelsire passed for 261 yards and three touchdowns to lead the Spiders, who improved to 2-0. The Bison dropped to 1-1. Up next: Howard at Indiana at 12 noon Saturday.
Arizona State 70, Morgan State 7: The Sun Devils passed for 432 yards and six touchdowns to rout the Golden Bears. Arizona State improved to 1-0, while Morgan State dropped to 1-1. Up next: Morgan State hosts Virginia-Lynchburg at 6 p.m. Saturday.
